LawnYear
Free tool

Lawn care schedule by ZIP code.

Dates are approximate and come from state university extension publications, linked under each task.

How to use it

Type your five-digit ZIP code. The tool uses it only to find your state, then lists when to seed, fertilize, control weeds and mow, with the extension publication behind each window. If a state has calendars for more than one grass, pick yours.

States covered

Calendars exist for Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, Texas, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Missouri, South Carolina, Kentucky, Indiana, Maryland, Tennessee, Alabama, Wisconsin and New Jersey. Each state page shows the full calendar and its sources.

Where the dates come from

Every window is read from one of these university extension publications:

What “approximate” means

Extension publications give months, charts or ranges for a whole state. We read those into dates, so a window is a guide, not a deadline. Weather, soil and where you are in the state move the right day, and a local extension office knows your area better than any state-wide calendar.

If your ZIP is outside the coverage

The tool will say so instead of guessing. Contact the cooperative extension office for your county, or look for your state university’s lawn calendar.
